Antioxidant Activity of Compound 6-propyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-piran-2-on from Endophytic Fungus Fusarium oxysporum of Kalanchoe millotii root

Abstract
Kalanchoe millotii or cocor bebek is a succulent plant that is rich in secondary metabolites and utilized as a traditional medicine. The exploration of secondary metabolite content and bioactivity of Fusarium oxysporum, an endophytic fungus from the roots of K. millotii, is of interest. The compound 6-propyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-piran-2-on was successfully isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of F. oxysporum through various chromatographic methods. Structure elucidation of compound 6-propyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-piran-2-on based on NMR (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, HMQC, HMBC, COSY), UV, and FTIR spectra. The antioxidant activity of the ethyl acetate extract of F. oxysporum and its isolates was determined based on the DPPH (2,2 diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. The isolate showed moderate antioxidant activity with IC50 of 153.39 ppm.
